Sunland Park Derby (G3)

The Sunland Derby, inaugurated in 2003, is a 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-olds on the Road to the Kentucky Derby. Notable past contenders include Mine That Bird, who finished fourth in 2009 before winning the Kentucky Derby, and 2015 winner Firing Line, who later finished second in the Derby. The race was moved to mid-February in 2024, with a revised Derby points distribution of 20-10-6-4-2 for the top five finishers.
