Accreditation Internship

The Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA) is seeking a motivated, full-time student for an exciting paid summer internship with the HISA Accreditation Team. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to gain experience in a fast-paced national organization that reports to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and oversees the safety and integrity of Thoroughbred racing. The summer intern will be an integral part of the HISA Accreditation team in evaluating racetrack compliance with HISA Safety initiatives.

This internship provides a qualifying student with firsthand experience in the HISA accreditation process. The intern will serve as a liaison to General Managers and Racing Directors, assisting them in preparing for HISA accreditation visits and evaluations. Over the course of the summer, the intern will take part in two to three accreditation visits, observing racetracks that excel in HISA Safety Rule adherence as well as those facing specific compliance challenges. This hands-on experience will provide valuable insight into racetrack operations and equip the intern with the knowledge and skills needed to support facilities in maintaining HISA compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Shadow accreditation team on accreditation visits during Summer 2025.

• Become familiar with HISA Safety initiatives and the accreditation process.

• Be able to successfully review and assess a track for compliance.

• Be able to attend HISA Safety Committee meetings and discuss track issues.

Position Type: Internship

Compensation: A stipend will be provided. All travel expenses will be paid for by HISA.
