Bluegrass Stakes (G1)

The Blue Grass Stakes (G1) is a Kentucky Derby (G1) prep race held at Keeneland Racecourse. First run in 1911 at the Kentucky Association racetrack, it moved to Keeneland in 1937. Through 2019, 19 horses have won the Kentucky Derby after running in the Blue Grass, including 10 who won both races, such as Northern Dancer, Spectacular Bid, and Strike the Gold. The race is 1 1/8 miles, and the stakes record of 1:47.29 was set by Skip Away in 1996.
